A Note To My Readers

Hi there, I’m Lizzie (waves)!

Before you dive into my book, there are a few things I’d like to share. First and foremost, I write stories that are meant to be enjoyable and relatable to the modern reader—stories that are snappy, fast-paced, and fun. I do an endless amount of research to create a historical backdrop for these stories and you’ll find some of that fun research at the end of this book.

BUT. I’ll be upfront—my writing has a modern tone, and sometimes I throw in a bit of playful wordplay that isn’t fully historically accurate, all for the sake of humor. For example, in Compromised for Christmas, I make a subtle play on the word head…as in giving head. That phrase was not something coined until the mid-1900s. But the thing is, sex jokes are funny. I realize this style isn’t for everyone and I want you to know what to expect before you begin so there are no surprises.

Historical romance is a place where we can find many types of stories—it is a fantasy where we can highlight certain persons or movements that hold meaning to us.  In my world, you won’t find heroes with missing teeth, gout, or infested with the pox. My characters have all their teeth and they bathe (regularly, believe it or not!). They smell nice, because, let’s be honest, the only thing that should stink is cheese.

My heroines have fire in their veins, and the men they fall for appreciate their intelligence and desire for autonomy. You’ll find a diverse cast, where love triumphs no matter who the characters are—whether they’re neurodivergent, LGBTQ+, or BIPOC. Love has always found a way, even in the face of obstacles, and in my stories, those barriers are always broken.

If this is not how you take your tea, this book is probably not for you. It is a lovely world we live in that we have a plethora of options out there to suit each and every one of our preferences.

So, dear reader, if my style sounds like something you’d enjoy, I invite you to step into this fantasy world with me and indulge in a little escape. Grab your wine (or drink of choice) and let’s have some fun!

Xoxo,
Lizzie
